Tips to Heal Chapped LipsMost people suffer from chapped and cracked lips. The skin of your lips like the eye area is different from the rest of your skin and don’t have oil glands thus it is more susceptible to drying. It is accompanied by these symptoms – sores, scaling, redness, bleeding. There are myriad reasons for such condition namely cold weather, dehydration, smoking, excessive licking of lips, sunburn, wind exposure, vitamin deficiency and breathing through mouth.
The key to maintain pink tinge and supple lips is to moisturize your lips as much as possible. However there are some easy to easy to do tips that work wonders to ward off dry, chapped and cracked lips.

Stay Hydrated
Keeping yourself hydrated is essential for skin care regime and your lips are no exception to this regime. Drink plenty of water especially in fall weather to avert drying. It is advisable to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.

Scrutinize Your Vitamin intake
Include a diet rich in vitamins, minerals, zinc and omega 3 foods to hasten healing of cracked lips. Eat green leafy vegetables, eggs, whole grains, legumes, carrots and tomatoes for skin health.

Moisturize Your Lips
Follow a rigorous schedule of moisturizing your lips to keep them moist and supple. Use a moisturizer and lip balm with ingredients like natural beeswax, cadiallic wax, glycerin, almond oil and Vitamin E. Avoid using petroleum enriched lip balms as it is not beneficial for lips in the long run.

Abstain Licking of Lips
Licking your lips acts as a temporary savior from dryness but it actually worsens the problem as the saliva which aids in digestion contains acids which leads to excruciating pain and cracked lips. Thus one should avoid licking lips to keep them healthy.

Natural Remedies
Natural homemade remedies act as a shield against dryness and offer a permanent solution to chapped lips.

  • Apply drops of coconut oil daily over lips.
  • Aloe vera is predisposed with healing properties thus applying aloe vera gel cures dry lips.
  • Apply honey on lips to make them pink and smooth.
  • Apply milk cream to keep your lips soft.
