Fight Acne- Tips to Reduce Acne (Pimples)

Pimples or acne often gives nightmares to people and is a cause of their constant worry. While teen acne is common phenomena but you can suffer from acne at any age group. It occurs when pores (tiny holes) known as hair follicles of your skin gets clogged due to oil, dead skin or bacteria. Sebaceous gland is tiny glands that secrete sebum (skin oil) found near your skin which is responsible for lubricating the skin and hair thereby preventing drying of skin.

Tips to Reduce AcneHowever, excess of secretion of sebum (oil) gives rise to the problem of acne .Triggers of acne are heredity, hormonal changes, stress, sweating, humidity and the use of steroids.

Tips to Reduce Acne

1. Exercise Regularly
People are multitasking from morning to evening without a break and are exposed to work related stress or personal stress which stimulates cortisol hormone which triggers oil glands to overproduction of oil thereby leading to the problem of acne. An effective way to combat acne is to do regular exercise which lowers cortisol production thereby leaving acne at bay. Take ample rest and sleep for 6-8 hours to allow repair of skin cells.

2. Proper Diet
Foods loaded with sugar content and greasy foods can exacerbate the problem of acne. Follow a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, proteins, whole grains that helps to revitalize the skin and limit sebum production (oil). Avoid junk and processed food at all costs.

3. Avoid playing with acne
Keep your hands off acne. Never prick or pop a pimple as it can worsen the problem of acne and leads to permanent marks and scars on your face. Pricking of pimples causes injury on your skin and loss of collagen. Collagen is a protein fiber which helps to maintain luster and elasticity of skin.

4. Abstain exposure to searing heat
Exposure to sunlight can have adverse affect on skin and accentuates sebum production thus inviting skin problems such as acne, sunburn, dryness and irritation. Use SPF moisturizer which provides a guard against UV rays thus evading acne outbreak.

5. Regularly exfoliate and cleanse your skin
Excess sebum production, dirt and bacteria block the pores and leads to acne and pimples. Use creams, lotions comprising salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide to fight acne and pimples. Regular exfoliating and scrubbing unclogs the pores and allows the skin to breathe thus renders a blemish free and immaculate skin.
