Holi is the festival of vibrant colours and vibrancy. People can be seen playing with colours and splashing water on each other which could also damage your hair and skin, causing allergies and havoc. The reason behind this culprit is the use of harmful chemicals or ingredients that are used in making the colour. Many of us think that using soap or face wash would be enough, but that’s not true as the chemicals in the colour could possibly react and cause rashes and other hair or skin related problems.
Following are some simple steps that would help you take off Holi colours safely-
Vaseline- Make sure you apply vaseline to your lips before heading out to play. This will prevent colours from entering the cracks in your lips and will also add moisture to your lips.
Foundation- Before you step out to play Holi, be sure to apply a foundation that will protect your skin from getting dry.
Moisturizer- Make sure you apply moisturizer on your face, hands and other body parts before going out to play.
Olive oil- Before you go out to play with colours, apply olive oil to your hair. This will help in forming a protective layer over the hair that will help in making the colours come off easily on a wash. In case there is no olive oil, you could also use almond or coconut oil. The best time to apply the oil is a night before Holi that will also assist in protecting the scalp.
Mustard oil- Make sure you use mustard oil before using colours. After playing with colours, shampoo your hair and apply mustard oil again. Leave the oil for an hour and rising again, this will assist in removing the remaining colours and protect from serious damage.
