Tips to Stay Active
- Exercise- Start your day with a brisk exercise (walking, gym, yoga) to stay in renewed vigor and zest throughout the day as it pumps up adrenaline thereby keeps you active and agile throughout the day. Choose an activity which intrigues you like swimming, walking, dancing, running, gyming so that it doesn’t become tedious. Instead of taking stairs try taking an elevator to reach your office.
- Diet- There is a general rule which everyone should adhere to stay active i.e. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. Never skip the primary and the most important meal of the day i.e breakfast as it is essential to kick start your metabolism and to get sustained energy. Include porridge with milk or poached eggs with tomatoes or boiled eggs or baked sweet potatoes in your breakfast. During the day snack on healthily i.e. bowl of fruits, dried fruits, nuts to keep sugar levels stable.
- Stay Hydrated- Water is a boon both for the body and brain. Drink water at regular intervals to stay focused, creative and productive. As forgetting to sip water at regular intervals may make you fall to the prey of dehydration thereby leading to a decline in cognitive ability. Besides water you can also drink fruit and vegetable juices, milk, green tea to keep dehydration and its ill affects at bay. Limited amount of caffeine can also be taken to stay afresh but remember overindulgence can be harmful and make you feel anxious and jittery.
- Stretch and Meditate- Stretching your neck, wrists and shoulders after a prolonged period of typing will keep you active and energized. Sometimes the best way to stay active is by meditating and for that you don’t have to enroll in any expensive session with a trainer but by closing your eyes for few seconds and taking deep breathes can do wonders to your mental alacrity.
