Pregnancy is the most aesthetic phase of a women’s life. Women go through unbridled emotions during 9 months. It is a transition phase of a women’s life as another feather is added to the hat and she is shouldered both with the joy and responsibility of being a mother.
But there is no need to be panic stricken as there are some diets that one should keep in mind to so that both the mother and baby remains in the pink of health. No doubt a well rounded and balanced diet can be benediction during pregnancy.
- Fruits and Vegetables- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables during pregnancy as they provide vitamins, minerals and fiber which aids digestion and keeps away the most common complaint of constipation away. Eat at least 5 portions of wide assortment of fruits and vegetables.
- Dairy Products- Consume dairy products like milk, cheese, paneer and yoghurt because they contain calcium which is essential for baby’s health as it strengthens bones, teeth, healthy heart and muscles. If the baby doesn’t get enough calcium then the baby draws calcium from mother’s body impairing the health of mother.
- Healthy Binging- While you are hungry in between the meals and avoid snacking into unhealthy foods which are high in fats and sugar like cookies, chocolates, ice- creams, muffins and aerated drinks as it may lead to unbridled weight gain. Opt for healthy options like vegetable sandwiches, porridge with milk, figs, baked potatoes etc.
- Plunge into proteins- Regularly eat some protein foods like beans, pulses, fish, eggs, poultry and nuts. Proteins are building block for body as it uses to create skin, muscles, hair and bones. It is prerequisite both for the health of the baby and mother.
Besides the above mentioned diet in order to ensure healthy and safe pregnancy one should maintain a daily exercise regime while walking and swimming is considered apt during pregnancy but to eliminate all doubts one should consult a doctor before starting an exercise regime. Regular visit to doctor is mandatory. Abstain over dose of caffeinated drinks as it increases heart rate and blood pressure during pregnancy.
Avoid drinking alcohol and indulging in drugs as it can lead to birth defects. Steer away from the myth of eating for two people as excess flab may be hard to put off after pregnancy as it may lead to resurgent weight gain. You need to add only 300 extra calories per day for promoting healthy baby growth. Stay Happy and gloat into the happy phase of your life.
